I was born on what was once called the "Palmer Place," some 70 years ago. By the time I started school, the Black House was painted white. I understand, at one time in my very young age, it was once painted green. But I can remember going to school, passing the Blacksburg Motor Company, the Huckleberry Train Station and the big white Black House. What a showcase this house was! In the summer, the field next door was covered in buttercups with a small stream flowing through it, which still runs under Main Street today.
If everyone agrees, it should be painted it's original subdued, soft green color. However, if not, I think it should be painted white, not the awful vivid green color pictured in Sunday's "the Burg." Please stop the painters before it goes too far! We already have a haunted looking house, we do not need it turned into a circus house!
