When the only constant is change
Patience will bear fruit at Roanoke’s historic City Market, though waiting for construction projects to end won’t be easy.
There comes a point even for the most patient and tolerant among us when enough is enough. Some who earn their livelihood in Roanoke’s Market Square may be reaching that point. They’ve endured a couple years of disruption from construction, first at the City Market Building then at Center in the Square. The only constant has been change.
They can take heart, though, that the end is nearing even if it is a little further away than anyone would hope and even if this last burst of construction impacts them the greatest. When all is finished, Roanoke will have a modern attractive plaza to stage the historic farmers market, historic in that it is the oldest, continuous market of its kind in Virginia.
