Expand state college boards
Student and faculty representatives could provide insights into what’s really happening on campus.
Last year’s debacle at the University of Virginia, in which the president was fired then unfired, brought higher education governance under scrutiny. One good idea floated to better connect boards to campuses is to place faculty and student representatives on governing boards. A General Assembly bill to do that is gasping its last breaths in a Senate subcommittee.
