His fate belongs to him. His rock is a thing. Likewise, the absurd man, when he contemplates his torment, silences all the idols. In the universe suddenly restored to its silence, the myriad wondering little voices of the earth rise up. Unconscious, secret calls, invitations from all the faces, they are the necessary reverse and price of victory.

Sometimes the cognitive dissonance is overwhelming.

In today’s paper, the feature article is about Rev. Quigg Lawrence.

    http://www.roanoke.com/news/roanoke/wb/319923

What we learn is his church has split off from the mainline Anglican Church of England over disputes on abortion, homosexuality, and the ordination of women. Mr. Quigg’s church split off because they’re again’ it.

So basically Mr. Quigg is a bigot but he’s being portrayed as a “man of God”. Why do the words ‘pig’ and ‘lipstick’ keep coming to mind?

In addition to this but further down the page, is an article about the remains of King Richard III.

    http://www.google.com/hostednews/ap/article/ALeqM5jIee6SXPMLwnU4O3n0FveUss0r-w?docId=fd64ead6029d4ecd86284d7dcf9c325b

Although the reporting was adequate, it didn’t go much into the science. It could have educated people about what mitochondria is and why the mitochondrial DNA was used to trace the lineage of the king, etc.

And here’s where the dissonance comes in. In the same newspaper on the same page, we have a story dedicated to a man lionized for his bigotry and devotion to myth and superstition and a wonderful story about the application and excitement of science. And it’s the bigot who gets the major story.

I love the RT but things like this really disappoint me.

“The city also will have to replace a long culvert to make way for new passenger tracks that will parallel the current tracks. The culvert project is estimated to cost $6.1 million, which caused some sticker shock among members during the council’s work session that preceded its regular meeting.”

    Oh, that’s rich!

Contrary to “Scott M” the anonymous poster who without knowledge or love throws stones and gets his facts wrong to publically demean my character and that of a faithful church who lovingly serves our community, we are very much in the Anglican Communion. That is a fact. Anyone who has actually met me or our church will know we are not “bigots”. That post was a cowardly and mean attach based on no facts but personal prejudiced.
