Take time to develop drone policies
Gov. Bob McDonnell should not block the legislature’s two-year moratorium on unmanned aircraft systems.
Drones are a transformational technology that will have countless commercial applications — many of them benign; some, undoubtedly, not yet imagined.
There are, indeed, lives to be saved and there’s money to be made in developing drones for police and civilian uses. Virginia certainly has an interest in being at the forefront of an emerging industry.

No need for drones on a local level. I can see the state having a few for search and rescue missions, but that’s all.
Agreed, there should absolutely be a tightly regulated policy for “drone” use from the federal to the local level.
“Don’t drone me, bro!”
A cry from the crowd at the CPAC meeting today, recalling the incident when police used a taser to subdue a student during a speech by John Kerry at the University of Florida.
It was reported by Fox News today that the Obama administration announced that it would begin sharing financial information it now collects on every private citizen among various governmental spy agencies. This information in the past was held only by the Treasury Dept and the FBI. Bad enough!
“An internal FBI audit has found that the bureau potentially violated the law or agency rules more than 1,000 times while collecting data about domestic phone calls, e-mails and financial transactions in recent years…”

The government is already spying on US citizens too much. We don’t need domestic drones.
#3 did they really say “bro” ? or was it “macaca” ?
