A judge for the Fourth Circuit

President Bush is finally mellowing on some of his judicial nominations. This week he nominated Radford native Glen Conrad to the Fourth Circuit in Richmond. Conrad was on a bipartisan list prepared by Virginia Sens. John Warner and Jim Webb. Last year he ignored them.

The question now is whether he waited too long. On Monday we will urge Senate Democrats to act on this nomination. Confirmations are usually slow during election years.

A "moderate" judge by the RT's standards may well be too liberal for the likes of the American people. I recall Webb actually verbally attacking Bush as soon as he was elected - not good diplomacy if you want to make ANY progress. Webb should be ignored for his crass style and efforts.

Now McCain has stated that he would appoint conservative judges and therefore gets my vote.
