Carpitcher's clemency petition merits a close look

Friday, we'll urge Gov. Tim Kaine to give careful consideration to the clemency petition of Aleck Carpitcher, serving year 10 of a 38-year prison sentence for molesting a girl who later recanted. Carpitcher has lost judicial appeals based on her recantation, but the governor and his staff can look at his case in its totality. Enough elements point to a possible miscarriage of justice that his plea merits timely attention.
