karen geblyNo surprise from the Roanoke Times today. Don't worry that these people aren't 100%qualified (Rosen, Price), don't really have a stance on all the issues (Rosen), or work ethically (Lea), we can just monitor them and keep an eye on them. It's ok. It's what we've done the past two years. Why CHANGE ANYTHING? Plus that has us in superb shape! Why change anyone? The Editorial board probably wants Dowe back in office. I mean they're democrats so they must be ideal right? What is Rosen's stance on anything? Just saying yes to Harris. But No fears everyone we'll monitor him and keep an eye on him, then when he finally makes a decision based on Harris we can all breathe a sigh of relief.
Total garbage and a waste of paper total.

AlKaren: You sure got it correct. I'll vote for you!!!
The only bigger joke on the good citizens of Roanoke than city politics is the Roanjoke Times. Where is it written that any publication which serves the public good is smarter than the citizens and obligated to "pick" the candidates?
"AND NOW, WE'LL ANNOUNCE OUR PICKS FOR...."
I guess they think people are really sitting around waiting to learn which candidates this enlightened bunch offers up as the chosen ones. Harris, Lea, Price and Rosen.
And Roanoke will get more of the purple shaft!

AlYou know, it just hit me that you folks at the Roanoke Times must really have had a problem with your decision to support Rosen. Apart form being an unknown, what IS known is that he was a "spokesperson" for and employee of PhRMA. As you know that is the trade organization for the drug industry...and one of the most powerful lobbying organizations in the nation. It's sorta like the OPEC of American drug companies as far as I'm concerned. "Let's keep those Viagra prices UP!" And heart medication, aids medication, cancer meds., etc, etc, etc. Makes me wonder about one of Roanoke's major medical organizations and a possible connection to Rosen. PhRMA has stood firmly against every effort to provide relief for high durg prices, pouring BILLIONS into their efforts and the pockets of our good congressmen. Some years ago serious questions were being asked about PhRMA's tactics and exactly who they were giving money to. The good candidate was quoted as saying "The association does not discuss advocacy tactics OR make its contributions public". BOY has this fella found a home in Roanoke or what! These are the very same approaches taken by city council. Also makes me wonder where some of the current and past contributions originated! In another article about legislation to give the government through Medicare, the power to negotiate prices with drug suppliers, which PhRMA opposed, Rosen said "it is not in the best interest of seniors to have the government interfer with negotiations..." In other words, Mr. Rosen and PhRMA, wants to keep all us old people in a "fix". Buy medications OR buy food! Sounds to me like Rosen should be running as a Republican! These cannot be statements that come from the mouth or mind of a Democrat. And therein is the problem for the Times. Can a liberally oriented paper support someone so evil as to keep draining the pockets of the poor who are hard pressed to pay for their medications? BUT, that's what the powers want so better get in line.
Next surprise will be to see the RT's recommends the Pres and Vice Pres as citizens of the Year!
