JoshWe might believe Webb and the Democrats in their claims that they love veterans if they weren't tying this provision to Iraq war funding.
But with their dismal history of wanting to "starve the troops" in the words of John Murtha, and declaring the war "lost" as Harry Reid did, excuse the American people for seeing through this political ruse.
Whenever you see the stubby little zero, Jim Webb, doesn't it make you nostalgic for the true leader we had to give up in exchange for this empty suit?

JimThis bill is another attempt for Democrat corruption to extend itself by adding tens of millions of additional non-war pet political projects to a bill originally designed for war funding only.
I'm shocked that this editorial board did not mention that the Dems structuring of this bill's addendums want to restrict future war funding, provide non-war funding for unemployment, education, wilfire containment, aid for post-Katrina LA, infrastructure projects and summer jobs programs. Bush had warned that no additional spending is to be added to this bill and he's sticking to his principles.

GlenSo Josh, what just what did your exalted "true leader" ever do for the troops? He sank his own campaign by arrogant, unmasked racism. Where was he in the Vietnam years? Why was George Allen not an infantry officer
in Vietnam? If he was scared of combat, with his connections he would have his pick of assignments, insulated from any real risk and perfectly postured for political capitol down the road. Was he unfit for duty? Or did he have other priorities? The Commonwealth is better off shed of his ilk.
Is one of the reasons so many on the right hated Bill Clinton was because he had the courage at a young age to disagreed enough with a misguided and failed war to not participate in it? As an honorably discharged veteran (twice, that to me is true courage, unlike say being given a fighter pilot slot in the Nat'l Guard and abandoning
it.
This bill might just cut into the profits of the corporate players who unleashed this debacle, this ruinous stain upon our republic. God forbid that the troops tasked with fighting this war actually get a tangible benefit. This bill
will pass, and McCain's opposition will only erode support for him. Our country deserves better.
