And in turn, they rely on friends and online connections for news to come to them. In essence, they are replacing the professional filter — reading The Washington Post, clicking on CNN.com — with a social one. |

Many papers require login which means you have to go to bugmenot to get a working userid and password
Newspapers don't make money on emailed links. Many people just email the story itself which is why many papers break up the story across multiple pages.
