The Roanoke Times editorial staff engages readers in a respectful dialogue and exchange of opinion, including our virtual editorial board where you can discuss tomorrow’s editorials today.
Christina Nuckols grew up in the Shenandoah Valley and worked at several newspapers in western Virginia, including The Roanoke Times, before moving to Richmod to cover state government and politics. After 14 years at the state Capitol, she returned to Roanoke in 2011 to become the editorial page editor.
Elizabeth Strother has been a Roanoker since 1978. She worked as a copy editor, assistant city editor and news editor at The Roanoke Times before joining the newspaper’s editorial board in 1993.
Luanne Rife joined The Roanoke Times editorial board in June 2005. In a previous life, she worked on newspapers in Alabama and Tennessee before returning to her native Pennsylvania in 1987, where she worked first as a reporter and later as an editorial page editor. The breathtaking beauty of Virginia and the charm of her people lured Rife to return to the South.
Michael Sluss came to The Roanoke Times in 1998 and worked in the New River Valley bureau for two years before moving to Richmond to cover state government and politics. After covering his 13th General Assembly session, he left the state Capitol to join the editorial board in April 2013.
