In light of the energy fix we see ourselves in today, and I'm not talking just gas prices but natural gas too, why do we bother having a *^#)^)&^%%*()) energy department?? And what have the various &*##(*&#@ congressional committees been doing the past 10 years? ahhhhhhhh do I feel&#*()##( now!

Barry's in trouble again. I wonder who goes under the bus this time for Barry's suspicious mortgage. Note: Personally, I thought he got screwed on the loan but rates must be higher there.

A campaign spokesman went further by claiming that Obama had no prior ties to the Chicago based Northern Trust. Apparently the Obama campaign has once again forgotten those “pesky” disclosure rules of the Federal Election Commission.

For years, and even now, we heard, and hear how the environmentalists were nut jobs and crazies. Well guess what folks, THEY WERE RIGHT! Imagine how far ahead of the energy fiasco we would be if only more people had opened their minds to change. Still, the narrow minds remain closed and cry for more drilling, not aware that the supplies will one day run out.

BUD,

You are exactly right. Why did the agencies that monitor energy do such a terrible job?
I noticed just the other day that the EIA changed their tune on supplies. Arm twisting anyone?

To quote BUD - "&*##(*&#@".

Here's a real story about real torture

The North Carolina case of an alleged satanic torture involving a Democratic Party official and her husband has now expanded to include a third suspect, an even higher-ranking Democrat.

Diana Palmer, the first vice-chairwoman of the Durham County Democratic Party, joins her political colleague Joy Johnson, the third vice-chairwoman of the party, and Johnson's spouse, Joseph Craig, in facing charges.

Denials all around.

Funny the Durham Dems pulled down their website for "technical reasons".

Henry,

Looks like the Durham folks took the VICE in their titles seriously.

Let's talk about the unmitigated gall and arrogance of plaintiff's attorneys.

These guys that sued the Roanoke City City Sheriff's Office won a substantial award for their client, $150,000. Now they have decided that their efforts are worth almost twice as much as the amount their client was awarded.

I thought the plaintiff was the one that the jury determined had been wronged. How can it possibly be just that the City pay the lawyers more than the victim?

This isn't even logical. I wish I could find a job that would let me produce $150,000 worth of service and then be paid $290,000 for doing it.

But in the end they will probably get it. Again, no wonder the country's so screwed up.

I have been told that There is a 4th of July festival at River's Edge Sports Complex in Roanoke tomorrow. It is cosponsored by the anti-gun Roanoke Times.

The flyer says that "all firearms are strictly prohibited."

By what authority?

State code section 15.2-915that prohibits the City from banning guns in pubic
parks and buildings is 15.2-915.

DaveH,

No worries. The city is not banning them. The Roanoke Times is banning them. And they're welcome to try to do that if they want. State law typically trumps Roanoke Times.

Let's hope that the Roanoke Police are educated enough in state and local law that they will stay clear of harassing people this evening.

It always ends up bad for the police department involved.
