Ed S.District of Columbia v. Heller will likely be released on Monday. Many are anticipating (as I hope) that the Justices will rule on individual liberty and the true spirit behind the Second Amendment to the Constitution (and common sense).
Of course, that won't stop some from demonizing good, lawful people and continuing to call for ineffective bans on personal protection.

c. trejbalWow, Ed, we're on the same page. I, too, hope that the the court does recognize the true spirit of the Second Amendment and rule with common sense that the militia clause grants a collective right. Unfortunately, I think the activists on the right will put politics ahead of the constitution again.

Ed S.Ah, Christian, I do enjoy your ribbing. Unfortunately I fear we're on opposite sides. I feel people are mostly good, and that we are innocent until proven guilty. I also feel the people should be able to protect themselves and their families.
I would like to hear your take on it. Why should the government be able to arbitrarily infringe on the people's ability to own and carry guns for protection?

BUDactivists on the right...good one!

Henry" and that we are innocent until proven guilty."
PRESUMED innocent by the courts. You are either guilty or you are innocent.
The people of DC are presumed guilty. That's why they can't have guns. But that is also why they have such a low crime rate.

JoshI heard on a local radio show Chris Matthews and Keith Olbermann are jockeying for Tim Russert's job on Meet the Press.
Rumor has it that Olbermann was overheard talking to his agent about going for the job at Russert's memorial service. Being that it's Olby, such crass behavior is no big surprise.
You knew Russert was a Democrat, yet he was likeable because of evenhandedness. He could ask tough questions, but still be seen as warm.
Not so with the other two. Matthews yells. He talks over his guests and bullies them. Not the sort of thing you want coming into your home on a Sunday after church.
Olbermann scores zero on the likeability index. In addition to his sissified hairstyle/glasses combo, his condescending simpering smugness makes Middle Americans want to slug him.
Given his blatant partisanship, one wonders why he was allowed to umpire the Democrat debate for NBC. Imagine the Left's reaction had FOX allowed Hannity to moderate its debate.

Ed S.Henry, thanks for the catch. Precise wording is very important.
[June 22, 2008 1:08 AM]
AJThanks, Henry, for making the point re: presumption of innocence. Way, way too many people do not know or understand this important distinction.

Henry : →http://www.journalinquirer.com/articles/2008/06/20/connecticut/doc485aa8866e702403924866.txtSen. Christopher J. Dodd didn’t have to disclose the two controversial mortgages he obtained in 2003 through a “VIP” program at Countrywide Financial Corp. because of a loophole in the Senate’s ethics rules, a Washington-based campaign finance watchdog group charged Wednesday.
It said that was more than any other senator got from Countrywide and suggested that the campaign contributions were “investments.”
The Journal Inquirer reported Wednesday that Dodd, now chairman of the Senate Banking Committee, which oversees the mortgage industry, didn’t describe either of the Countrywide loans that totaled nearly $800,000 in any of the six financial disclosure forms he later filed as a senator and 2008 presidential candidate.

The New York Times doesn't remember.

WillJosh...
Obviously your sources, probably Flushy Rushy, are wrong. Neither Olberman nor Matthews have been considered. Tom Brokaw will host Meet the Press until after November.
As for Matthews talking over a guest, obviously you haven't listened to Bill O, or Sean Hannity. If my mother had had the chance, she would have back handed them across the mouth for simply bad manners.
[June 22, 2008 6:35 PM]
JoshWill,
As far as I know, Rush isn't a local show. Actually Greg Roberts was talking about it Friday on his sports show. Roberts is usually pretty good with his sourcing. If you think he reported a falsehood, you should contact him at WFIR.
As far as Bill O. or Hannity, I don't believe they are vying for a Sunday morning show, so your comments are not applicable.

Blue JohnSo that's the problem.... national news from local sportscasters.
GOOD GRIEF!!
[June 22, 2008 10:14 PM]
JoshSheesh. It isn't all that hard to see if anyone else has pushed this story.
Perhaps a leftwing nut site would satisfy you:

WillJosh...
Apologies to Greg Roberts (whoever he is) however even he should research his comments better before airing them.
Regarding the comment about what day of the week the show is broadcast...I can't see how being rude any day of the week provides an excuse for it. That's really pretty lame.
[June 23, 2008 12:10 AM]
Blue JohnThis just isn't your day Josh,
I have information from reputable sources that have discovered that GOD is a black woman.
[June 23, 2008 8:12 AM]
BUDBLUE I knew it and her first name is Michelle. I knew there was hype for a reason!
[June 23, 2008 9:48 AM]
JoshWill,
What are you talking about? Roberts reported that other outlets reported the story --which they did.
Roberts was in no way rude, although he did give his opinion of Olbermann as a cold fish.
And God isn't a black woman. The last time he took human form, he came as Bob Prince. (I'll bet only Luanne knows who that is.)
[June 23, 2008 10:01 AM]
Blue JohnBob Prince the sportscaster, or Bob Prince the car salesman?
[June 23, 2008 10:37 AM]
luanne tWe had 'em all the way.
The only Bob Prince I know of, Blue John, is the Gunner and he was as fallible as any human filling the airways.
Say, did Prince the salesman have as loud of sports jackets as Prince the sportscaster?
