The entrants in this year's Roanoke City Art Show

The Arts Council of the Blue Ridge has released the names of the 43 artists whose work was selected for the 30th annual Roanoke City Art Show, which opens next Thursday, Oct. 1, the first day of the Roanoke Arts Festival.

And here they are: Lee Penny Baker, Gerry Bannan, Roy Baugher III, Susan Bidwell, Ann Glover, Andrea Hagy, Betsy Hale Bannan, John Hamill, Sarah Hazelgrove, Suzun Hughes, Christopher Jones, Scott Kitts, Brett LaGue, Sherrye J. Lantz, Nan Mahone-Wellborn, Brad McLean, Ingrid Moldenhauer, Patricia Placona, Kendra Portnova, Brian Sieveking, Nancy Stark, Gari Stephenson, Robert Sulkin, Barry Wolfe, all of Roanoke; Jennifer Cox and Suzanne LaPrade of Lexington; Kathy Cudlin, Janet Dance, Kelly Gravely Mattox and John Shuptrine, Lynchburg; Nancy Dahlstrom, Fincastle; Sandi D'Alessandro, Hardy; Vera M. Dickerson, Troutville; Ursula Suzanne Dilley, Julie Hamilton and Annie Waldrop, Salem; Ed Dolinger, Bassett; Sanfer "Brick" Marunich, Narrows; Thomas Pallante, Charlottesville; Cedric Rudisill, Christiansburg; Walter Shroyer, Linda Weatherly, Pearisburg; Ken Szmagaj, Harrisonburg.

The show runs through Nov. 8 in the second floor galleries at Center in the Square in downtown Roanoke. This year's juror, Beth Grabowski, is an art professor at the University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill. The reception and awards ceremony happens from 5-7 p.m. on the opening day.

  3. Actually 4 and 3 are from Giles county where we are in the process of creating another new Mural in Pearisburg va through Pat Laughlin and Jane Bode of the Giles Art council. Ill be the Artist ,Known as Brick from the town of Narrows where Bricks Soul Kitchen Gallery is located and my authentic Norfolk and Western Railroad ART show is presented every December.This year will be our 4th annual show.You can view some of the show when you ''google'' Bricks Soul Kitchen. There will also be an ''Art on the lawn'' show Oct 3 presented by Giles Art Council.
