Literary look at novel

Emory & Henry to Host Musical, Literary Look of McCullers Novel

Emory & Henry College will provide a musical and literary look at excerpts from a novel by Carson McCullers on Thursday, March 19.

This combined concert and reading will begin at 7:30 p.m. in the E&H Memorial Chapel as part of the “Big Read Series,” a collaboration between faculty members in the music and English departments at Emory & Henry, actors from Barter Theatre and the Washington County Public Library

Written in 1940, The Heart is a Lonely Hunter tells an unforgettable tale of moral isolation in a small southern mill town. In the novel, music is pivotal in shaping the lives of its main characters.

The concert and reading is free and open to the public. For more information contact atcoulth@ehc.edu or 276-944-6846.
