Top 100 Books of All Time

Looking for some summer time reading material? Good advice from those in the know is what I look for. The internet is flush with top 100 lists of things but this one looks like a source to bookmark. Time Magazine knows a thing or two. Richard Lacayo, editor of this particular, All Time 100 Novels, list, explains in this description, "The parameters (of the list making): English language novels published anywhere in the world since 1923, the year that TIME Magazine began." Simple enough? No way! I can't imagine whittling down all those choices to just 100. Here's a few of their picks, but I urge readers to take a look and consider the full article: "Beloved" by Toni Morrison, "Herzog" by Saul Bellow, "Midnight's Children" by Salman Rushdie, and "On the Road" by Jack Kerouac.

An interesting comparison is an article from that same publication, Time Magazine, published on June 10, 1946, titled, "Education: Great Books for Grown Ups" in which these much older tomes were suggested: St. Augustine's "Confessions," Machiavelli's "The Prince," and Locke's  "Of Civil Government." Quite a different feel in recommendations.
