I think the a pet dog is best option for the home protection, which can take care of the home when we are out. It is great to see such post where one can find such a companion.

As an animal lover I think you are right. I have a goose a big white farm goose that may be the best guard animal I have ever had. I rescued her three years ago when she was a gosling.I have a rescue dog as well-- but he is friendly, the UPS guy has to get him out of the truck. I guess our little canine friend is so happy to live on the farm that he greets even the mail man!
