Recycling above and beyond the call

People have been leaving their old and new phone books in the post offices around the county. Guess what?

They've been recycled -- thanks to Botetourt County Public Works for going to pick them up after the Daleville Post Office called The Botetourt View. We hooked them-up and now the problem has been recycled. Speaking of that, there's something new in the recycling world.

From Carol Craft, an engineering technician at Botetourt County Public Works who is a recycling guru and works with the Recycling Task Force among other things.

"I just received an e-mail from the Virginia Recycling Association (VRA) regarding a new VRA Recycling License Plate. I'm not sure exactly when they will begin minting them, but I thought you all might be interested."

The annual fee for the plate is $25.00 for each recycling license plate. For each $25.00 fee collected in excess of 1,000 registrations, $15.00 will be directed to VRA and will be used to advance recycling in the Commonwealth.

You can get more information at.vrarecycles.org/plate

We had a previous post about recycling in Botetourt on May 1.
