The band Five Minutes Later rocks Botetourt -- and beyond

fiveminslaterblog.JPG

Back in May, the band Five Minutes Later rocked its way to win the Lord Botetourt Battle of the Bands.

Well, now it's a little more than five minutes later . . . more like three months later . . . and here's an update on the band.

Tonight, the band plays at The Coffee Pot in Roanoke. 9:30 p.m. till closing...under 21 OK if accompanied by parent. We have it on good authority that lead guitarist Alex Tam "will be blowing some dust off the log beamed rafters at the Pot with Eddy Van Halen's latest
Half Stack / Vacuum Tube Power Head."

If you miss the band there, you can catch 'em again at Party in the Park in Troutville on September 13.

Here's the band's line-up (if you didn't already know) . . .

Lead Vocals / Guitar......"JT" James Campbell.... Eagle Rock (Class of '07, James River)
Lead Guitar / Back-up Vocals......Alex Tam.... Troutville (Class of '09, LB)
Percussion / Back-up Vocals......Travis Grahame....Blue Ridge (Class of '10, LB)
Bass Guitar / Back-up Vocals.....David Vineyard.....Cloverdale (Class of '08, LB)

. . . and an update from proud parent/publicist Edwin Tam:

At the time of the Battle of the Bands.. 5ML...had a few shows lined up for this summer at the Coffee Pot on Brambleton Ave. Shortly after their first Show they were asked to continue their Performances at the Coffee Pot from now until Christmas playing roughly every other weekend. They have earned their way into a slot that Bands with twice their age and experience strive and long for.

For the second year in a row 5ML will be Providing Live Entertainment for the benefit of the Troutville Park at the annual Town of Troutville.... Party in The Park. Last year the Band performed under the name of Etched in Stone but they renamed the Band to 5ML last winter after a conflict in name with another Band appeared.

In 2007 the Band played on their own mobile Outdoor Stage at "Party in The Park" . Plans were made to return with the band and stage this year, where the bands Stage and PA system would also be used to showcase The Talent Show which will follow the Bands Performance this year. Through the efforts of Bill Rader, the yown of Troutville Mayor, the Troutville Lions Club..... and others...a permanent Covered Outdoor stage is in the works for the Town of Troutville Park and is scheduled to be operational prior to this years September 13, 2008 Party in the Park Event.

5ML will be recording their original songs on CD at " The Flat Five Recording Studios" in Salem this weekend. The Flat Five have also recorded for local artist and the likes of The Dave Matthews Band.

Other than formal Dates ...5ML... can often be heard performing Live Outdoor Practice Sessions at Buffalo Springs Nature Preserve... in the Town of Troutville.... on Sunday afternoons weather permitting...
