Terrific Tuesday

cathythehotdogblog.JPG

It's Terrific Tuesday so how's everything in your neck of the woods?

I love my job and I am so excited about this picture. I am officially a hot dog! I have told the husband and kids that when I die I want this picture on the front of that remembrance thingie at the funeral home. I wish they would substitute this hot dog photo of me for the picture in the print edition and the blog!

So what else new? The world has gone mad and the gas prices are ridiculous. I got bad gas at a local establishment on Sunday at 11:01 a.m. By 11:05 my little chariot was beginning to heave a little and it got oh so much worse. So far it has cost me close to $500 which is not making me a happy camper. Always be careful when there's been a run on gas. What might be left in the tank could have "stuff" in it. A friend told me what time the gas tanker arrived with more gas at the station after I had been there. The mechanic drained 11 gallons of gas (ouch!) from my little Saturn and found some vile stuff in there which they have put in a jar for me to take back to the place I got the gas. It fouled my plugs, too. Stay tuned for more.

I have friends in Hurricane Ike in Houston and we still haven't heard from them -- no power, waterlogged homes -- I am lucky with the bad gas in comparison.

Hey, the apple doesn't fall far from the tree. My son went to the Greek festival as an extra credit for class and he couldn't resist this cool little Greek Dancer photo op. His name is Zack and he is a freshman at James River HIgh School. He'll love me so much for doing this!

Sharon Coleman over at the Sheriff's Department and I (and a good portion of the Town of Fincastle) and the hinterlands are watching the Dollar General like hawks. Pet put in dairy this morning so the store should be open soon! Watch for breaking news on the blog. Its a really hot topic in your county seat.

  1. No comments? What is happening to the voices of Botetourt County? Cathy--you are a hot dog--I loved it!
You got bad gas, all right!!
The worst we have seen locally was on Sat. nite coming home from the Greek Festival, just north of there at one of those large places, well lit, no customers--why?
Posted gasoline price was $4.99 per gallon!! It spiked in NO time on Friday--all day lone up and down old route 11 from Roanoke to Buchanan!Phew!

  2. I love the picture but am still processing the imagery. In regards to the price of gasoline, I think it is remarkable (and infuriating) that the prices are not dropping in the Roanoke Valley in spite of the fact that the price of crude oil has continued to drop. Last I heard, it was at $94 per barrel, down from a high of over $147 a barrel. Funny how prices seem to go up at the drop of a hat or the threat (or reality) of a crisis, but they never seem to come down. Why do we continue to put up with this?

  3. My favorite part of the Oscar Meyer song (I did a project on the commercial way back in 4th grade) was ..."everyone would fall in love with me."

Great pic Cathy! Oh and I'm sure your son will forgive you, someday. That's what moms do - show photos. You just get to show them to a lot of people at once.
