Dollar General opens in Fincastle
Dollar General opened in Fincastle this morning. Manager Twila Martin said it is a "soft opening," one with little fanfare. A Grand Opening will be in the near future. This the first major retail opening in years in the Fincastle area.
The company website DollarGeneral.com said, "Dollar General is your one-stop shop for everyday basics, seasonal favorites and unexpected deals. Our shelves are stocked with the essentials you need; from food items to baby items to automotive..." They also have a great toy selection, toiletries, clothing, household goods and just about everything you can imagine. Five employees plus management seem to be on board for the future.
Members of the community began to arrive as soon as the word spread the store was open. The Sheriff's Department was represented by Sharon Coleman, Crime Prevention Specialist, who came for contact information from the manager and Michelle McCadden, library assistant Rene Worthen came for spinach dip for the library lunch room and Gregory Booth picked up some essentials.
The store is 9,000 square feet. Hours are 8 a.m. through 9 p.m. Monday through Saturday and 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Sundays.
Employees Sarah Hinchliffe, Twila Martin and Tracy Burks greet a line of customers--Gregory Boothe, Rene Worthen, Sharon Coleman and Michelle McCadden.

Wow!!! what a HISTORICAL DAY. A Dollar General open (not exactly in) Fincastle. YIPPIE a cold drink, a snack, or something healthy to eat in walking distance from Fincastle Library. Thank you to the Botetourt County Supervisors who approved this wonderful addition. Landscape is pleasing to the eye.

I agree and thanks should also go to the Fincastle Town Council because it took the cooperation of the County and Town to get this done! I'm sure that the members of Town council, who worked with the developer to design both the building and the landscaping, appreciate your kind words. It really is a great addition, both to the pocketbook and to the eye!
