James River's golf team makes Coach Shotwell proud

Coach John Shotwell said last night, "We are having a great season. So far the team is 7-1 and I am pleased that we played very well. I am very proud of them."

At Tuesday's match James River defeated Alleghany in a Ryder Cup type of match. Knight's players Brent Cummings and Clay Bailey defeated Dalton Nicely and Austin Bess 3 up. Travis Sprinkle and Colin Guilliams beat Cody Niday and Jacob Domer 1 up and Brian Bess and Ben Vess of Alleghany defeated Knights JB O'Conner and Irena Boothe 3 up. The Knights won the match 2-1

On Thursday they played a regular match against Bath County. The Knights played extremely well. Brent Cummings 36, Travis Sprinkle 36, Clay Bailey 39 and Colin Guiliams 43. Bath County Alex Frye 40, Walker Ryder, 42, Drew Newmaker 44 and Mason Ailstock 53. The score James river 154 and Bath County 181.

Both golf match days were played at Botetourt Country Club.

The Knights go to Bath County next week, said Shotwell.
