Oriskany Fall Fest is Saturday from 9 to 5
The Second Annual Oriskany Fall Festival opens Saturday at 9 a.m. with a ceremony by VFW Post 4491. Sponsored by the Oriskany Extension Club, the event will raise funds for the King Memorial Church parsonage building fund and lasts until 5 p.m. The event has even more to do and see than last year.
Here’s what’s happening:
- Vendors will offer crafts and other items along spaces on the Oriskany Square.
- Silent auction at noon features antiques, collectibles and many other items.
- An antique tractor display by collector Joe Looney.
- facepainting, games, hay rides and family-oriented events
- A Civil War re-enactor camp.
- Musical entertainment during the morning will be provided by Virginia Junior Opry member Victoria Sidenstriker, James “Junior” Christian, The Oriskany Strings, and soloist Shannon Drummond Compton.
- A new event this year will be the “Ms. Oriskany an all-male pageant at 12:15 p.m.
- Hot dogs, barbecue sandwiches, “walking” tacos, drinks, and baked goods will be sold throughout the day. Some breakfast items will also be on sale in the morning.
Oriskany is on Rt. 615 (Craig Creek Road) and can be reached from Eagle Rock by heading west from US 220, or by taking Grove Hill Road (Rt. 606) from Blacksburg Road in Fincastle over Caldwell Mountain into Craig County. At the intersection with Rt. 615, turn right.
