Vandals strike Fincastle library

Vandals struck the Fincastle Library sometime between closing on Wednesday evening and Thursday morning.
When Children's librarian Jackie Mullins came to work Thursday at the Fincastle library she discovered the county car covered in fire exstinguisher residue. All over the county car! She saw where it had been sprayed on the roof as well and when she walked around the libray exterior she found that graffiti had been sprayed on the back of the building. "I am disappointed. Each of us here has been so proud of the library especially the addition, and we just cannot believe someone might show so much disrespect to the building and the town and the library."
Indeed, the graffiti bears "420" which is the police call for marijuana, a huge incantation of "Carz and I love boobies" and another epitaph relating to sexual preference on three separate walls in the back yard area.
When contacted, the Botetourt Sheriff's department said they suspect it is a juvenile offense but they are investigating the matter and when they find the suspect, will charge and prosecute them."
"This is just not what you expect in the town of Fincastle," said Rena Worthern a library assistant. It is very upsetting."
If you have information about the Library vandalism, please call the Botetourt County Sheriff's Department at 473-8230.
