Over the time period of putting the race together including race day, the committee raised approximately $8,000 for Allyson McClellan. 186 runners and walkers registered for the race. Chris McClellan spoke for the family. "Before this we had family and friends now we have a whole community of friends. You have been so terrific to us in so many ways."

Allyson, a student at Cloverdale Elementary had chemotherapy this past week and was too sick to come to the race on Saturday, but her family was well represented. The outpouring of support from the children and families in the Cloverdale and extended Botetourt County area and Roanoke Valley was significant. "Sallie Morris and her committee organized the race efficiently and ought to be praised for their efforts," said McClellan.
