Principal Vanetta McAlexander proves she measures up to singing and dancing about school spirit at Central Academy

On Monday the students and teachers at Central Academy wore Red, White and Blue--the school colors. On Monday night athletes and spirit minded students in particular, with parents and family members in attendance watched a spirit event interspersed with musical talent and drama for the second annual PTA pep rally. The night was filled with laughter and applause.

In the midst of selling the PTA cookbook--the large fund raiser and available through the school for $15 (as well as PTA members,) President Carol Theimer took time out and encouraged the students, faculty and parents to have the Patriot spirit.

The cheerleaders performed numerous cheers including the very popular "Patriot Rumble" and Alexis Toliver, a 7th grader and a member of the squad, talked about being a cheerleader and how much of an influence her mother has been to her. The drama class students performed skits related to all of the sports the school has on for winter and spring as well as the fall sports which have now ended and also to the school running club which participated in the Fincastle Run 5K this past weekend.

The school's 8th grade chorus sang the National Anthem and the JRHS drum line, all CAMS alumni, played a heady selection for the crowd. Each group of fall athletes was recognized and took the center of the gym floor for a little spirit building.

The highlight of the night was the faculty and staff group that sang and danced a tune about school from getting to the cafeteria on time to keeping the school clean and doing well in school. Principal Vanetta McAlexander proved she knew how to get down and dance! For photos of the night--click!
