Girl Scout troop 420 works on obtaining "quilt it" badge

On Oct. 17 Cadette Girl Scout Troop 420 worked on their "Quilt It" I.P. Badge with the help of the Blue Ridge Quilt Guile and several Girl Scout Leaders. The girls made ragged-edged quilted handbags with braided handles. Many of them even learned how to use a sewing machine. Each girl profited from one-on-one guidance with an adult. They also learned about careers in quilting, different types of quilting squares, and used their creative juices to brainstorm ideas for their Silver Award (the second award in Girl Scouting) using quilting. Robin, the troop’s leader, said the best quote of the evening came from Olivia, "I have never done it before and I can sew now. I had a great time thanks again.”
