Lord Botetourt's Grace Blaylock signs letter of intent with UNC-Asheville
Grace Blaylock anticipates a continuation of basketball on the college level as yesterday the LBHS senior signed her letter of intent to go to University of North Carolina at Asheville. The Lady Cav guard is known for her shooting and ball handling ability and can knock the eyes out of three pointers as witnessed in her previous three seasons' of play at Lord Botetourt.
Blaylock has played varsity all four years at LBHS. Flanked by her parents, Tom and Susan and her brother Ben, Blaylock, a Blue Ridge resident, signed on the line committing to the Carolina school.
Vice Principal Tim McBane commended Blaylock on her abilities both on and off the court as a student athlete. Coach Chuck Pound said she is a leader on and off the court for the team. Assistant Coach Chad Conner said they will get a wonderful person and basketball player.
"I just wanted to get this out of the way before the season begins," said Blaylock when asked about making the commitment prior to her senior season. "It removes some of the pressure." She plans to major in chemistry at the school.
