Update on car crash: Passengers were mother and adult son from Covington

Torn sod at the accident scene and a waylaid mailbox at the Amsterdam Baptist Church are reminders of the accident this morning.

Sgt. Bob Carpenteri, spokesman for the Virginia State Police, called with an update on this morning's car wreck on U.S. 220 south at Amsterdam. The two people involved in the crash have been identified as a mother and son from Covington. The driver of the car was Bonnie Forbes, age 61, and the passenger her son, Harold Forbes, age 38.

The conditions of the two are unknown and Carpenteri said the crash is still under investigation.
