Kevin E. Lineberry, 25, of Salem has been arrested and charged with 13 counts varying from Breaking and Entering to felony possession of firearms. More counts are pending.

The Botetourt County Sheriff's Office says it's solved four recent break-ins with the arrest Thursday of Kevin Lineberry of Salem.

Here's a view of some of the jewelry and guns recovered from Lineberry's Salem Home after his arrest on Beaverdam Farm Road yesterday afternoon in Botetourt County not too far from Exit 162 on I-81. In the past four weeks there have been four break-ins in the vicinity. One on Narrow Passage Road, one north of Buchanan, one on Wheatland Road and one near Nace, and yesterday, a farmer returning from his morning chores allegedly saw Lineberry coming out of the farmer's house carrying his guns and called 911. Deputies in the area quickly responded and met the car Lineberry was driving on Beaver Dam Farm Road. Lineberry tried to avoid the deputies by going up a drive and hiding the car in a barn. After back-up arrived, a sweep of the property found the car and later Lineberry, who was subdued by officers with aide of canines and arrested.

He has been charged with 13 counts including:

5 for Breaking and Entering,

5 for Grand Larceny,

1 possession of firearms by a felon

2 felony firearms possession charges

Other charges may be pending.

Sheriff's Department members went to Lineberry's home on Alltree Lane in Salem where they recovered guns, jewelry boxes, piles of loose jewelry, a flat screen televison, knives, watches, binoculars and many other items.

Said Sheriff Ronnie Sprinkle, "We are glad we got him. After we inventory all of the items, we will likely be contacting other neighboring jurisdictions to come in and look at the items as well." The Sheriff commended his officers for good work in quickly nabbing the suspect and recovery of so many items.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE—

Salem Man Charged in Botetourt County
With Series of Daylight Residential Break-Ins

Botetourt County Sheriff Ronnie N. Sprinkle has reported that a recent series of daylight residential break-ins was solved shortly after noon Thursday when twelve of his units swarmed the Beaverdam Road area and tracked down a Salem man who had been observed kicking in a farmhouse door and stealing weapons.

Kevin E. Lineberry, 25, listed as residing on Alltree Trail, Salem, has been charged with five counts of breaking and entering, five counts of grand larceny, possession of firearms by a convicted felon, and two counts of felony theft of firearms, and is being held without bond for a preliminary hearing January 23 in General District Court for Botetourt County, Sheriff Sprinkle said.

A large quantity of jewelry and other valuables found later at Lineberry’s residence linked him to four other recent Botetourt County break-ins and may connect him with similar incidents in several nearby jurisdictions, the sheriff said.

Sheriff Sprinkle said that the first units responding to the “break-in in progress” call met Lineberry’s vehicle on Beaverdam Road, near Lee Highway (US 11), but by the time they turned around he had disappeared. While those deputies split, going north and south on Lee Highway, others initiated a sweep of the area between the site of the Thursday break-in and US 11, spotting marks where a vehicle had made a hurried turn-off into another multi-structure farm complex, the sheriff stated. They found Lineberry’s vehicle in a garage there, and with the assistance of a canine unit flushed him from another building, Sprinkle said.

  1. Since this man is a previuos convicted felon he should be convicted of the law that says a felon should not be allowed to have a firearm in his possesion. This should not be plea bargined and procesed to the fullest extent of the law. This is where gun laws that are already in placed be executed. The laws are allready in place instead of new laws put in place. We already have the laws and the only change is that the current laws should be manandatory and not be able to be plea bargined out by some lawyer. I'm A Law abiding firearms owner and feel that a person convicted of a crime using a fiream should not be allowed to plea bargin any firearms laws already in place. Anyone convicted of using a firearm should have a mandatory sentence of at least 5 years or even 10 years mandatory... in the use of a crime and should not be able to be plea bargined out of this charge.
