Former LBHS coach and teacher David Wheat is in Bergen, Norway
Whatever happened to David Wheat? He coached an LBHS girl's basketball team to the state championship in the 90s. His government dual enrollment class in 2004-05 at Greenfield Education Center only missed the election electoral count by 1 vote. Wheat was a popular teacher, coach and resident of Troutville and had served in the Ford administration with Dick Cheney and Donald Rumsfeld.
He and his wife Cynthia moved to Norway a couple of years years ago and here's the scoop from an e greeting he sent to this reporter two days ago complete with an update about his daughters who are LBHS grads.
Dear Friends in Virginia:
Cynthia and I wish you the very best in 2009.
The past year was a big one for us. In May, Autumn gave birth to our third granddaughter, Mallory Grace Finnigan, in Chicago. In June, we visited Amy's family in California for Hana's 6th birthday party. In between, we accepted a permanent faculty position at the university, so Bergen is now home for us. The celebrations continue as the new year begins--three weeks from now we will be in Las Vegas for my mother's 80th birthday party! We look forward to seeing you again, in Virginia or Norway.
All the best,
David & Cynthia
And there you have it! We miss you here in Botetourt County, Virginia, David, but a great 2009 to you and yours!
