BOTETOURT COUNTY SIGNS NEW LEASE AGREEMENT FOR BOXLEY FIELDS
Fincastle – Botetourt County has entered into a twenty-five year lease agreement with Boxley Materials Company for property located in the Blue Ridge District known as Boxley Fields. The lease agreement will secure approximately thirty-four acres of property for recreational use by the citizens of the Blue Ridge community and those throughout Botetourt County.
The long-term lease agreement will replace the original year-to-year agreement for approximately seven acres between Blue Ridge Stone Corporation and the Blue Ridge Booster Club.
Pete Peters, Director of Parks, Recreation and Tourism, was pleased to announce the property agreement and stated, “Securing the lease and acquiring the additional acreage in the Blue Ridge area will allow us to advance the recreational facilities and programs available to meet the growing needs of the community. Having a long-term agreement in place will allow Botetourt County to fully commit to the continued improvement and development of the property. Boxley Materials has been exceedingly supportive over the years and this agreement will ensure the positive relationship is continued for many more.”
Upon entering into the agreement, the Parks, Recreation and Tourism Department will work with the Blue Ridge Booster Club as well as Boxley Materials Company to develop an improvement plan for needed enhancements to existing structures and playing surfaces as well as potential construction of new recreation amenities within the property.
