Terrific Tuesday

Hey, it's Terrific Tuesday again-- how's everything in your neck of the woods? Thankfully it is warm again today so March is going out like a lamb. What a quick month! Hey, did anyone out there see the streaking space junk on Sunday night. The wind blew so hard at my house I would not have purposely been outside after dark. But I wish I had seen it. Here's a link to a story about it. I  did see the movie "Knowing" this past Friday night. I found it a B on the grading scale but it you don't know much about Bible prophesy stuff and alien population of the Earth you might not get it. Yeah, that's an odd coupling of info for a movie premise. People in the theatre either loved it or hated it. Nick Cage wore his hang dawg look most of the movie and did a lot of drinking like he did in "Leaving Las Vegas."

Hmmm, where to start. It was an interesting weekend for all of the AAU activity both girls and boys, Taekwando and so forth. I shoveled food for JRHS football for a couple of hours at the Boys AAU tournament held at the school big gym on Saturday. I tell you I really love Petros.  If you  haven't eaten one --then it is also called Frito Pie and someone said that recipe was in Southern Living recently. Hoity, toity cuisine comes in all shapes and sizes.

Here's the Petro recipe: Cut across the top an individual bag serving of Fritos, add chili, salsa, mild cheddar shredded cheese, diced onions, sour cream in that order. Eat with a spoon.  Ole' Amigos!

Last but not least Bill Davis of Fincastle  passed away on Saturday. Bill was a great fellow and Shirley (Mimi) and the girls are going to miss him. He was President of the Troutville Lions at one time and retired from Roanoke Cement. His claim to fame for my kids was he was part of a dynamic grandparent duo that baby sat many of the kids (including them when needed) in the Fincastle area over the past 15-20 years.

Bill shot a snake out of a tree when my son Zack was there one day and after that Bill was always "the man" in Zack's eyes.  He followed Bill every where. Julia spent more time with "Mimi and Bill" and absolutley adored them both. One of my favorite memories of Bill Davis was his laughter when my baby Julia latched on to a tricycle on our way down the sidewalk and would not let go. She shrieked, "I want to ride the bicycle at Mimi's house!" over and over. Bill bent over double laughing but finally helped me pry her strong little fingers from the handle bars so I could deposit her in the car seat, still shrieking of course.  One thing about growing up with their kids Robin, Paige and Penny as they were frequent visitors to relatives in the Pleasant Dale community where I grew up, was I knew Mimi and Bill would be the best ever child care next to home-- LOL-- maybe even better! Bill always had  quite the light display at Christmas when he was able.  Heaven gained a new angel and I prefer to think that blazing light on Sunday night was Bill telling us "Good-bye, all is well."

See ya next week!
