Hunsberger heads to West Point June 29
From Clarence Renshaw, West Point adjunct
Daleville-Lord Botetourt High School cross country standout Zeke Hunsberger will be trading his LBHS thinclads' red and gray for Army black and gold this fall, having won a coveted appointment to the United States Military Academy at West Point, New York. Hunsberger is expected to run both cross country and track for Army's NCAA Div. 1 teams. While at Lord Botetourt, Hunsberger also played on both the varsity basketball and tennis teams.
West Point, recently listed among the nation's ten best colleges by several rating organizations, is also one of America's most competitive colleges for admission. Graduates are commissioned as 2nd Lieutenants in the United States Army.
For Hunsberger, acceptance to West Point is the culmination of a near life-long dream.
Hunsberger, from Cloverdale, is the son of Mark and Cheryl Hunsberger. He is interested in becoming an Infantry officer and, later, in joining the Special Forces. He will begin his 47-month stay at the Military Academy with the Class of 2013 on Monday, the 29th of June, with the first summer dedicated to Cadet Basic Training. The academic year begins in August.
