It's Terrific Tuesday! Tornado sunset
It's Terrific Tuesday again--how's everything in your neck of the woods?
Well summer by American standards began yesterday with Memorial Day. I think that I will have to dig my white shoes out of the closet so I can wear them for three months. My maternal grandmother was a stickler for those fashion rules. Isn't it a shame that we just can't wear what we want to wear any time of the year?
What did you do for Memorial Day weekend? Mine was busy but also fun. On Friday night I was at Battle of the Bands and that was loud, but really great. We have some talented young folks at LBHS. I did the Faith Festival on Saturday, a movie late Sunday night with my friend Delaine Newcomb and had a cook out with my immediate family yesterday after I had breakfast in Buchanan with my cousin Charlene from Natural Bridge. So it was a family and friends kind of deal. Yes, I did thank my veterans and also flew red, white and blue over the entire three days.
If you haven' signed up for Relay for Life you can still do it by going to the American Cancer Society website or sign up Friday night at the Carnival Grounds in Buchanan. $10 donation gets you in the walk!
I love sunrises and sunsets and I have titled the one above--Tornado Sunset. I took this picture at one of my favorite stopping places, the pond/astronomy area at Greenfield on Thursday evening May 21. I certainly agree with the Best of Botetourt that it is a great place to take a walk. It is a great place to take pictures, too.
My sullen sixth grader huffed in the car Thursday night while I took a series of pictures of the sunset. You can't rush a sunset. The colors unfolded over 15-20 minutes. It was spectacular as you can see-- going from golden to pink to this blazing series of clouds over Caldwell Mountain. Can you see the tornado shape, too? No, it wasn't a tornado --the clouds were too high. Beautiful nonetheless and really it was a terrific night for viewing and listening to the sounds of mother nature as the camera clicked away.
Drop by Greenfield sometime if you haven't gone and take a walk. Entry from the Roanoke Road side and drive tot he parking spot. Enjoy your time in mother nature courtesy of Botetourt County.
See ya next week!
