Infant dies as a result of car crash on Lee Highway north of Troutville
According to state police, Abbagayle Blankenship of Buchanan, an infant age 14 days, died as the result of a car crash last night June 29, 2009, at 7:11p.m. The crash took place one mile north of the Brugh's Mill Road Intersection near Troutville. According to the state police dispatcher, Rick Thompson, the car driven by Deanna Blankenship of the 4000 block of Buffalo Road, Buchanan crossed the road and hit an embankment. Rescue workers responded to the scene. The baby died at the hospital at 9:15 p.m. No word on the condition of the driver.
