Botetourt will hold NFL Punt, Pass and Kick Competition July 26

Botetourt County Parks, Recreation and Tourism will host a free NFL Punt, Pass and Kick (PPK) Competition for area youth on Sunday, July 26 at 2:00 p.m. at the Lord Botetourt High School Practice Field.

The NFL Punt, Pass and Kick program is a national skills competition for boys and girls between the ages of 8 15 to compete separately against their peers. Established in 1961, the PPK program is the oldest NFL Youth Football Program.

Girls and Boys in four separate age divisions (8/9, 10/11, 12/13, and 14/15) compete against each other in punting, passing and place kicking in a fun and engaging forum.

Competitors are divided into four age divisions and have the chance to advance through four levels of competition, including Team Championships at NFL Stadiums in November and December and the National Finals at an NFL playoff game in January 2010.

The participant with the highest cumulative point total for punting, passing and kicking in each age group at the Local Competition will advance to the Sectional Level of Competition.

All participants must fill out a registration/waiver form prior to the start of competition. The form is available on the Parks and Recreation website at http://www.botetourt.org/recreation/recreation_news_events.php#PPK and at the department's main office, 30 W. Back Street, Fincastle.

Location: Lord Botetourt High School Practice Field
