Brent Cummings bio
Name: Brent Cummings
Age: 17
School: James River High School
City/State: Troutville, VA
Graduation Year: 2010
Family info: My dad is the Senior Pastor of Fincastle Baptist Church, and my mom is a preschool teacher at Li'l Scholars Preschool. My parents met at Liberty University in 1986, and got married after graduation. Ashley, my sister, is a sophomore at James River where she plays volleyball and runs track. My grandparents are missionaries with HCJB World Radio and have traveled to over 30 countries installing Christian radio stations.
Church Activities: I am actively involved in my youth group at Fincastle Baptist Church. I have been on mission trips to Mexico, Jamaica, Cleveland, Ohio, and Washington D.C. I help out with our church's children's ministry, such as an Easter Egg Hunt and the Octoberfest Carnival.
Favorite School Subject: History
Favorite Food: Chinese
Favorite Book: "The Chronicles of Narnia" series by C.S. Lewis
Favorite Singer/Group: Relient K and Steve Fee
Career Plans: I want to change people's lives. While an old cliché, it is truly a motto for my life. My Dad is a pastor, and growing up I've always heard, "Oh you're a pastor's kid? They're always the worst." Trying to disprove that statement has been a work-in-progress for me, and I want to continue that at Liberty and afterwards. Although firemen, policemen, marines may all have this chance as well, my goal my mission, is a little bigger. With Christ's help, I want to save people's souls; alter their eternal destiny for the better. I believe that when I get to heaven, Jesus will ask me two questions: "Did you read my love letter?" and "Who'd you bring with you?" I want to bring thousands or more, but I know I can only do that by letting God work through me. I want to attend Liberty University because I feel God has called me into full-time ministry. Just like Jonathan Falwell followed his dad into the ministry, I hope to do the same one day.
What would people be surprised to know about you? As a member of my high school golf team, I have shot under par.
Brent also played on the District champion team for 4 years in golf and played baseball, made it to the Homecoming Court this year and for those who know him, he is a genuinely good friend and student!
