Aradia Zenobia at the Montgomery County Chamber of Commerce just sent out this announcement about the upcoming "Taste of the Burgs" in mid-June.
Montgomery County Chamber of Commerce & Blacksburg & Christiansburg Visitors Center Present “Taste of the Burgs”
Blacksburg/Christiansburg, VA – As a true foodie, one will search high and low for the very best when it comes to feeding that passion for great food. Now you can indulge that passion in your own backyard at “Taste of the Burgs” – a culinary adventure dedicated to the art of dining. A premier progressive dining experience designed to provide diners the very best the restaurants in Virginia’s Backyard has to offer.
Presented by the Blacksburg/Christiansburg Visitors Center and Montgomery County Chamber of Commerce on June 11, 2009, “Taste of the Burgs” will offer a unique and sophisticated experience through a careful blending of flavorful food, warm ambience and true hospitality to those lucky enough to secure a ticket for the event. Only 100 tickets will be available for purchase through the Chamber and each of these participants will enjoy a four course meal, traveling to a different restaurant per course. Diners may choose from four routes named after the restaurant presenting the entree: Bull & Bones Route, Bud Foster’s Route, Outback Route and Zeppoli’s Route. What would prompt the organizing of such a culinary adventure? According to Shane Adams, President/CEO of the Chamber and Tourism Director, “We realized that many of our restaurants were gems that were going unnoticed – even by locals and we wanted to give them an opportunity to shine.” He went on to say, “At the same time, it seemed like a great idea to use the opportunity to introduce them to tourists and visitors as well. From there we decided that if we were going to take the time to celebrate our local cuisines – we should make it a real celebration!”
Beginning at 5:30 PM and culminating at a reception where everyone will come together to share their evening’s adventures with each other at Awful Arthur’s while enjoying some music, after dinner drinks and the chance to win some door prizes, this culinary adventure will, without a doubt, show the true foodie – or the average diner - Blacksburg and Christiansburg in a whole new light.
