Spookoree hits Bisset Park

Karen Nelson, who works at Warm Hearth in Blacksburg, this week sent along these Cub Scout photos from a weekend event in Radford.

Here is the info:

On Saturday, October 3-4 the Blue Ridge Mountains Council, New River Districted hosted their annual fall family camping event. The event is held annually at Bissett Park in Radford. The theme this year was Jedi’s in Training. The event was attended by approximately 600 people.  Activity stations included Han Solo’s training arena (BB range), Chewie’s Hunting Ground’s (Archery), a Photon Torpedo Blaster and a Rocket Launcher. In addition each scout received a Jedi name and crafted their own light saber that was later used in the Jedi Training Course and Light saber training.

Scouts and their families camped overnight in Bissett Park. This is one of two family camping opportunities hosted by the BRMC for Cub Scouts in the New River District each year. These events provide an opportunity for boys to meet scouts from other packs and make friendships that will last throughout their scouting careers as well as later in life. Events like this are a great opportunities for scouts and their families to have fun and spend time with each other.
