Elaine Wingert gives thanks for those who helped her husband

Elaine Wingert wants to give thanks to a large number of people who helped her family after her husband, Ray, was involved in an accident. Here's the full text of her letter:

On July 27, 2009 my husband was in a motorcycle accident on Kents Lane in Wytheville. His injuries are two broken vertebrae's, skull fractures, three bleeds on the brain (all have coagulated) and broken ribs.

I want our community to know that the emergency response was fantastic. Officer Martin one of the first responders made a very important decision that was in the best interest for my husband. He called for a Med-trans helicopter to transport my husband to Roanoke Memorial Hospital, as it was evident to him my husband had serious injuries to the head. Officer Martin along with the ambulance and Med-trans team and hospital staff did an excellent job it taking care of my husband to ensure his injuries where not damaged further in the move. We want to thank each and every one of the emergency responders for your excellent care. The break in the C7 vertebrae was not displaced and the 60% crushed T8 vertebrae was handled in away that my husband still has full use of his body today. No nerves were damaged and he has a very good chance of a full recovery. We are very blessed to have had such amazing care from all of you and pray many blessing to each of you and your families for the work you do to ensure our community's needs are cared for in times of trouble. Thank you for taken such good care of my husband and our family.

I also want to thank the company my husband works for, Amcor PET Packaging of Wytheville. Ty Harrison the plant manager and Susan Coffey of H.R. along with the rest of the Amcor team have been exceptionally supportive and generous during this time. They have helped some of our family from out of town with places to stay and have made sure our home was prepared with all my husband needs when he came home. They have done much more than this to ensure our family is taken care of and that my husband can heal without worries. Mr. Harrison, Mrs. Coffey and the rest of the Amcor team, we thank you from the bottom of our hearts for your generosity and caring hearts during this time. We couldn't have made it this far without your help and care. Amcor is truly a family not just a company. We pray many blessing on each of you as well.

I would also like to thank Longwood Elastomers in Wytheville, my employer for the care and support they have provided us during this time. I am proud to work with such wonderful people and for a company that cares for its employees like family. Your support and caring hearts have also helped me so that I could concentrate on taking care of my husband. Thank you so much and may many blessing come to you all.

These two companies' are truly the best companies any person could work for. Not only are they true to their employee's but they truly care and support you in times of need. If all companies were like these two this world would be a much better place. Thank you all for your generosity, kindness, support and care during this difficult time in our lives.

May God bless you all,
Ray and Elaine Wingert
