Virginia Tech basketball, courtside with Mark Berman

Thorns leaving Tech

Hank Thorns is transferring from Virginia Tech.

Thorns said Monday he wants to go somewhere where he can get more playing time and be more of a scorer.

The departure of Thorns will free up a scholarship for Allan Chaney, who is transferring from Florida.

Much more on this in tomorrow's Roanoke Times and online tomorrow.

Hokies adding a transfer

Allan Chaney, a forward who played as a freshman for the University of Florida, told me today (Monday) he is transferring to Virginia Tech.

Chaney, who once was the state player of the year in Connecticut, said he orally committed to the Hokies yesterday.

Much more on this in tomorrow's Roanoke Times and online tomorrow.
