Buddy Miles has died
Miles, a great drummer who played with Jimi Hendrix and was a part of the California Raisins project, has died, according to his Web site.

Thanks for posting the notice of Buddy's passing and the links. He was an iconic musician in the late sixties, and wrote "Them Changes", one of THE standard songs (because it's really just a riff) for any young band in '69-73. Paul Schaffer's band still plays that riff often. Looking at Buddy's running mates (Bloomfield, Hendrix, Billy Preston, etc.) is a roll call of the greatest rock players, although it also cautions us of the elective states that exacted such a high price from them. Once again, my mind is goin' through them changes.

For weeks, I've been listening to a friend's gift, an mp3 mix that includes the Band of Gypsies' "Machine Gun." It reminds me of how much I love that album. The only version I own is on cassette. How sad is that?
