Advance video on new Derek Trucks Band disc, "Already Free"

AbstractLogix is doing the preorder thing, and has posted this video on its site. Or check it out on Trucks' own site.

I'm psyched as I can be about this record, which comes out on my birthday. Check out this podcast with Trucks, where he talks a good bit about the record and about his new home studio -- where he recorded the new disc -- just before his concert at Jefferson Center.

The new disc comes out on Sony BMG Legacy, but somehow, AbstractLogix is doing some distribution, which gives me a chance to talk about that label. If you're into virtuostic jazz/rock playing, you have to check it out. I ordered my first CD from them -- guitarist Jimmy Herring's "Lifeboat" -- the other month, and it's been in personal heavy rotation for me ever since.

The label sells CDs and DVDs from artists such as Herring, bassist Gary Willis, guitar god John McLaughlin and drum wizard Gary Husband, and instructional videos by the likes of John Abercrombie, Steve Smith, Adam Nussbaum, Joe Bonamassa and Joe Morello.

About this blog

cutNscratch is The Roanoke Times music blog. Music reporter Tad Dickens enjoys pickin' and grinnin' and drummin', and he likes to write about music, too. He'll post plenty about local, regional and national music, but it won't be any fun at all if you don't jump in and have your say. So do it! | Read more about Tad.
