The Roanoke Times music poll -- national results
There were so few ballots cast for the national part of the poll, I didn't even want to bother wasting ink. But here they are on the blog. If you want, comment with your suggestions about whether we should even continue to worry about the national scene. Seems like our local scene is intense enough that it can be the focus -- and lord knows I could afford to save the time it took to tabulate this mess.

All's I can say, Tad, is ummm.... The Bastards of Fate??? They are local with not a peep in the polls, but they got the best chance of making it nationally. I've been in SW Virginia for quite a while, and really, I haven't heard of ANY of the bands that won. And that's coming from one of the Elder Statesmen of WUVT, a radio station that may become a contender in the radio station fight once we boost power.
But yeah, I suspect I'm probably not telling you anything you don't already know.

I'm a big Bastards fan. They put on the best live show around here, and that's not even counting the packing peanuts and confetti, etc. Just a good band, good songs. They got very few votes -- I have no idea why people didn't vote for them.
There are a bunch of other really good local bands and musicians who barely registered in the balloting. Go figure.
As for the winners, they're all well known up here in Roanoke, and draw good crowds, who were motivated to vote for them.
Thanks for the comment, Deral.
