Concert review: 3 Doors Down, Hinder, Theory of a Deadman at Roanoke Civic Center

The print review is now here. <snip goes the first draft>

Now for a little story from last night. 3 Doors Down singer Brad Arnold used to be the band's drummer, too. Nowadays, the band has a hired hand on drums. But for the encore, Arnold came out on the drum kit and began playing the chug-swing snare part of the band's hit, "Kryptonite."

He's pretty good. Trouble began, though, when he started to sing. The microphone stand was not in a good position for him, and he began accidentally pushing it away with his head.

Right before the second verse, a roadie pulled the thing away for adjustments just as Arnold had sung the first couple of words.

C'mon 3DD -- how many years have you been touring now? Figure it out!

Arnold and the band's actual drummer, Greg Upchurch, pulled off a neat switcheroo later, when the drum part broke down to just the two-handed shuffle on snare. Both played the groove for a couple of seconds as Arnold slipped out of the drum throne and Upchurch climbed on.

I have to say, too, that Upchurch is a great sounding drummer.
