What's up with music videos at roanoke.com

Some of you have been digging the MusicCast for a couple of years now. And I love it, too. But art and commerce? Urg.

Brightcove, the company that developed the player that we and many other media companies have been using for a while, became a pay service today. And we're not paying. Why buy the cow when you can get the milk for free? In our case, the milk looks a little something like this -- http://www.roanoke.com/multimedia/video/wb/187907 -- minus the manhunt and the heightened police presence (I hope).

We're shorthanded at roanoke.com, so this deadline sort of snuck up on us. We're going to refigure the MusicCast situation. Till then, if you have a video you'd like to submit, e-mail me and I'll get you the information you need.

Another bit of wildness from one of those darned Gregory Brothers

You've gotta see Radford boy Michael Gregory with this slice of debate mashup genius:
Nashville Debate in Song and Dance

Ex-Roanoke blues man Kevin Selfe plays national anthem on the big screen

It wasn't long ago that Kevin Selfe was plying the blues trade in Big Lick. A while back, he moved to Portland, where they apparently have a good attitude about the electric guitar, and an affinity for the Jimi Hendrix style. Here's Selfe, playing "The Star Spangled Banner" to open up his new home town's Flugtag 2008.

Thanks to open mic host and fine instrumentalist Aaron Oberg (www.myspace.com/musicdoode | www.myspace.com/aaronjasonfriends) for the link.

Video from our old pal Neanderpaul

Neanderpaul, aka Paul Mays, is a guy who loops tunes and plays mad guitar. He's one of our old MusicCast guests, and he did us the solid of posting this video with a new collaborator, Jimmy Danger. It's your basic mainstream metal, with Neanderpaul singing his lungs out.

New video on the MusicCast

The Wading Girl submitted three vids from a recent show at the Mix One6. Check them out at the MusicCast.

And hang on till the weekend, for some fresh product that we shot with the Seed. Till then, check out this sneak peak video, replete with funny hats and wigs ...

From youtube: Jimmy Thackery and Reba Russell

Thanks to our friend in music, Harry Turner (Thacker's manager / booking agent), for sending the link to this one. Thackery and Russell should team up and rule the blues world. Seriously. Here's the stuff, from a blues cruise:
