FM field trip
I'll be at the Stocked Market at the Roanoke Civic Center from noon - 2 p.m. today, manning The Roanoke Times booth. Stop by if you're in the neighborhood and check out our umbrellas and the Roanoke Area Ministries cookbook we'll be selling. Or just say hello!

I was there yesterday, but totally missed you because I didn't know you would be there!! DANG IT! I had baby Sam with me, who was quite the flirt yesterday!
Did you get to cruise around and try any of the goodies? The soup guy had some good stuff, but I didn't buy any. I also enjoyed Nancy's fudge (from Floyd!), some pistachio brittle and of course, some wine from Amrhein's. I purchased a bottle of Amrhein's Saffire, which I plan to have with some gumbo very soon!

I stopped by the soup vendor too, but I left $20 poorer. However, I do have 5 cans of soup to stretch out through the winter as treats -- 3 cans of clam chowder, one spicy cream of crab and one sweet corn chowder, which I may doctor up with chicken so the hubby's happy.
We love doing soup and sandwich night, but I'd never eat this soup one week after another -- too expensive and too much heavy cream
Your tomato soup and grilled cheese sounds great. I'm so sorry I missed Sam.

I didn't purchase the soup because of the price. I was really torn because I really liked the crab bisque and the clam chowder. I was going to justify it as a treat, but my friend talked me out of it!
We like soup & sandwich night too, and with the weather having turned colder, it's about the only thing I feel like cooking! I bought ingredients for the Parmesan tortellini soup you posted the other day and plan to make it this week.
Instead of heavy cream, have you ever tried using the Land O'Lakes fat free half & half? It's not bad, or I've also used 2% evaporated milk.
