Report says Foster has been contacted by Clemson
Virginia Tech defensive coordinator Bud Foster has been contacted in regards to the head coaching vacancy at Clemson, Rivals.com reported this afternoon.
The story, written by Tom Dienhart, the Web site's College Football Senior Writer, said sources close to the search confirmed that Foster has been contacted about the job that came open when Tigers head coach Tommy Bowden resigned Oct. 13.If Foster has been contacted by Clemson, it's likely to have come from a third party, not from Clemson athletic director Terry Don Phillips.
General protocal for schools wishing to talk to an assistant coach from another school about a job opening to call and ask permission from the current head coach he's working for, which in this case, of course, is Hokies coach Frank Beamer.
A source close to Beamer assured me tonight that the Tech head coach hasn't received a call from Clemson officials asking permission to talk to Foster about the position at this point.
Clemson spokesman Tim Bourret declined comment to Rivals.com when asked about the validity of the report.
Foster, 49, is one of several candidates believed to be under consideration to replace Bowden. Others include Texas defensive coordinator Will Muschamp, former Oakland Raiders coach Lane Kiffin, TCU coach Gary Patterson, Vanderbilt coach Bobby Johnson and Oklahoma defensive coordinator Brent Venables.
The Tigers won't hire a new coach until after the current season concludes.

I would hate to see him go but it would be a good fit for Clemson.
On another note, I wrote last week that they should put Glennon in. Obviously, after his good performance before he got hurt, the team is better with him a QB. I spoke to a bunch of my FSU buddies and when they saw Glennon come in and start moving the ball they thought the game waw over so I am not alone in this opinion. The only way that I can see the season being saved is to have him play and at a minimum to have him share time with Tyrod....although I thought Holt looked better throwing the ball than Tyrod.
I think Tyrod will be good but he really needed this year to learn. At some point, Beamer can not keep benching the upperclassmen for the next best thing as he did with Randall/Vick and now with Glennon/Taylor. If he keeps doing this the superstar QB's will not come to VT

It would be a shame to see him go but that may be a hard offer to turn down. Clemson is a pretty elite program.

hey john are you totally out of your mind? Glennon is a pic machine are you really sean glennon cause you are the only person that i know thinks this way the only thing glennon is better at is holding a clip board and making sad faces he and holt are fith year seniors who never developed. holts knees were knocking when he came in the game beamer has been to eratic with swapping qb's if he stayed with a 2 qb's it would have been ok but tyrod has to be the future the offence is just better with him man

QB coach O'Cain has said that Glennon is the better passer, Taylor, obviously, the better runner. Given Tech's anemic running game (RB's are averaging 108 yards/game--remember that up until the last couple of years Tech RB's routinely averaged 200 or more yards/game), it is clear that Taylor is a better choice than Glennon. BTW, O'Cain also said that Holt is half-way in between--not as good a passer as Glennon and not as good a runner as Taylor. If Holt does start against MD, let's hope that will be good enough.

It's a compliment to your program if other programs want your assistant coaches.
