Cavs lose another close one
CHARLOTTESVILLE -- Virginia overcame 20.8-percent shooting to take a four-point second-half lead but saw its offensive woes return Saturday in a 58-56 loss to Auburn at John Paul Jones Arena.
It was the fourth loss in five games for the Cavaliers, who fell to 4-4. Freshman Sylven Landesberg had a game-high 22 points, 15 in the second half, but UVa did not have a second double-figure scorer.
Auburn, a preseason choice for fifth in the Southeastern Conference's Western Division, trailed 56-52 following a basket by UVa's Sammy Zeglinski with 4:02 remaining, but got 3-pointers by Tay Waller and DeWayne Reed to pull out the win.
Virginia failed to score on its last five possessions, including a go-ahead 3-point attempt by Zeglinski that was blocked by Reed with four seconds remaining.
Korvotney Barber had 14 points and 13 rebounds for Auburn (6-4). The Tigers outrebounded UVa 44-30, which helped overcome 34.4-percent shooting from the field. UVa shot 36.7 percent.

So now Cheeseman is leaving VT. There goes another VT offense
upperclassman in this short 2-year time period. Stiney sure knows how to keep his players motivated and out of trouble -- (just like Ike Whitaker, Luckett, MV2, Brandon Ore).
Task #1 of leadership: Motivate your troops.
Remember part of the reason we have so many Freshman/Sophomore
playing at the offensive skill positions is because they get kicked off the team for discipline/motivation problems thanks to Stiney's inability to mentor his players like Foster does.
Coach Foster was able to keep Ronyell Whitaker, D'Angelo Hall and Jimmy Williams focused enough to get them to the NFL.
Plus, read my post there Einstein (justafan)I specifically mentioned the offensive players released over the past two year time period -- (not going back 8 like you did).

I give Dave Leitao credit: I don't recall one player since he's been here at UVa having any "off the field episodes". He seems to rule the program with an iron hand, which is great. The players have so much respect for him that they don't dare get out of line.

So now Stiney doesn't even have the situational awareness to know if his players are going to class and how they are doing academically. What type of relationship does he have with Marshman to know whether how he is doing in his classes? It seems like Stiney is a bottom 10% performer in his profession as OC and it seems like he is a bottom 10% performer in mentoring these kids to become better human beings.
Fire Stinespring! No CRONYISM at VT! Get rid of the bottom 10% performer (3 years in a row)

Coach Foster finally breaks his silence on offensive woes in our last 2 VT bowl games. Excerpt below:
---------
But in a rare break from the win-as-a-team, lose-as-a-team mantra, defensive coordinator Bud Foster wants you to know his bunch was not part of the problem preparing for last season’s Orange Bowl against Kansas.
“We felt the last two years we’ve given the bowls away,” Foster said Saturday, referring to the Kansas loss and Chick-fil-A Bowl meltdown against Georgia in 2006. “I thought last year, and I told Coach Beamer this, we had our best bowl practices in all the time that I’ve been here as a defense.
“And I thought we played that way. They [Kansas] got a touchdown on a defensive score and they got a 2-yard drive. That was 14 of their 24 points, and that was against a team averaging 50 points going into the game.”
